the longest day

This eight hour flight with the jet-stream takes a serious commitment--not to mention the incidental hours devoted to navigating security. I was especially annoyed for Heiko being subjected to being photographed and fingerprinted, when he had already been asked if had dealt with terrorism, drug-dealing or genocide (Volkermord) and then asked whether he had had any dealings with livestock or was transporting toxic materials or snails. It was getting all quite annoying and to think this electronic visa waiver program already had companies more than willing to charge travelers a nominal fee to process the on-line version for them. One still has to fill out the paper forms. We landed late in the afternoon and made our way by small steps to the car rental place, and TomTom failed me, but Heiko drove a big old honking Chrysler 300 like a seasoned expert down I-495 to Annapolis. We were too tired to do much other than stave of jet-lag after we checked into our post room and Heiko was shown what a Denny's is.
